“Everybody knows Goodluck Jonathan is on board. He is committed to this election. He is coming back,” Pearse said.
On the Lagos governorship election, Pearse expressed confidence in the PDP’s chances against the APC candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat.
Pearse said the PDP would campaign on competence and development rather than ethnic considerations ahead of the Lagos governorship election.
He said his administration, if elected, would focus on development across all divisions of Lagos State.
Pearse also said his emergence as the PDP governorship candidate and the choice of his running mate, Mrs Bolanle Akorede, had strengthened the party’s prospects in Lagos.
He said his longstanding involvement in the PDP would help promote unity within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
“A divided house is a defeated house. One of the problems that we always have is the division within.
“We are not going to have any division. Everybody in the party is going to support me,” he said.
Pearse urged PDP members and supporters to remain united and work for the success of the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the event, PDP House of Assembly candidate for Amuwo-Odofin Constituency I, Hon. Rolmel Lele, urged Nigerians to support former President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2027 presidential election, describing him as a caring leader with the qualities needed to lead the country.
He also described the PDP Lagos governorship candidate, Pearse, as a true Lagos indigene and grassroots politician, expressing confidence that he would deliver effective governance if elected.
Also speaking, PDP Chairman in Amuwo-Odofin, Mr Vitalis Ejimafor, expressed confidence that the party would win the Lagos governorship and presidential elections in 2027.
The INEC on Wednesday lifted the ban on presidential election public campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, PDP candidates loyal to Turaki-led NWC nationwide are still expecting court ruling in their favour to be recognised by INEC, as the electoral body only recognised candidates loyal to the rival PDP group loyal to the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
