IF I HAD KNOWN, I WOULD HAVE SOUGHT HELP FOR HIM” — PETER FATOMILOLA SPEAKS ON OGOGO
Veteran actor Peter Fatomilola has expressed deep regret over the health struggle of fellow actor Ogogo, saying he only learnt about the situation after Ogogo’s daughter publicly came out to seek help.
According to him, Ogogo was not just a colleague but “my son in the industry.”
His words are painful: even if he could not personally help, he would have reached out to people who could.
Sometimes, the hardest part of losing someone is not only the loss itself—it is the thought of “If only I had known earlier.”
“Ogogo was my son in the industry. I didn’t hear anything about his health until his daughter came out to seek help. If I had known, even if I couldn’t help personally, I would have sought help from people wiser than me for him”
Ogogo’s story raises an uncomfortable question about the way veterans in the Nigerian film industry look after one another.
How many struggling actors are suffering silently today while their colleagues remain unaware?
