MAHMOOD YAKUBU ASSUMES DUTY AS NIGERIA’S AMBASSADOR TO QATAR
Professor Mahmood Yakubu has assumed office as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar, expressing confidence that the country is on the right path to strengthening its diplomatic engagement with the international community.

The ambassador gave the assurance upon his arrival in Qatar, where he was officially received by the Director of the Protocol Department at Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Yousif Abdullah Fakhro.
Also present at the reception were 13 African ambassadors, the Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, Dr. Philip Mshelbila, and the President of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation in Qatar, Michael Ndukaihe Ihekwaba.
The dignitaries noted that Ambassador Yakubu’s appointment presents significant opportunities for Nigeria, particularly in the areas of gas development, educational cooperation, and foreign scholarship programmes.
Speaking at the reception, the Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea and President of the Bureau of the African Group of Ambassadors to Qatar, Thierno Abdoulaye Sow, described Nigeria as strategically positioned to play a greater role in international diplomacy and global peace efforts.
He expressed optimism that Nigeria would continue to strengthen its engagement with the global community, especially at a time when diplomatic initiatives are being pursued to promote peace and stability in different parts of the world.
