Oyo Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Service Delivery as New Trade Commissioner Unveils Reform Agenda

 

The Oyo State Government has reiterated its commitment to efficient service delivery, human capital development and sustainable economic growth as the newly appointed Commissioner for Investment, Trade, Cooperatives and Industry, Faosat Joke Sanni, officially assumed office.

Speaking during her maiden meeting with management staff of the ministry in Ibadan, the commissioner expressed appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for the confidence reposed in her, pledging to build on existing achievements and implement policies that would further strengthen the state’s economy.

Hon. Sanni outlined a policy direction focused on capacity building, institutional efficiency and technology-driven governance, stressing that continuous professional development and the adoption of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) are essential for improved public service performance.

As part of her agenda, she announced plans to introduce structured in-house training programmes aimed at enhancing staff productivity while encouraging workers to embrace self-development and skills acquisition to improve service delivery.

The commissioner charged staff to uphold the highest standards of diligence, integrity and teamwork, noting that mutual respect, collaboration and accountability remain critical to achieving the ministry’s mandate.

Drawing from her experience in the state civil service, she commended the professionalism of ministry personnel and emphasized the importance of mentorship in preparing younger officers for leadership roles.

On stakeholder engagement, Hon. Sanni said the ministry would strengthen collaboration with traders, cooperative societies, investors and other key stakeholders through sustained dialogue and inclusive consultations.

She explained that engagement with market leaders and relevant groups would be intensified to stimulate economic activities and boost the state’s internally generated revenue.

The commissioner further assured that resource management under her leadership would be guided by prudence, transparency and strict compliance with government regulations. She also stressed the need to enhance security within the ministry to ensure a safe and conducive working environment.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Olajide Mahmud Okesade, congratulated the commissioner on her appointment and assured her of the support and cooperation of management and staff.

He expressed confidence in her ability to advance the ministry’s objectives in line with Governor Makinde’s sustainable development agenda.

The statement signed by the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade says the meeting featured presentations by heads of departments who highlighted their mandates, achievements and operational priorities. Responding, Hon. Sanni commended their efforts and pledged to provide the leadership and support needed to enhance institutional efficiency and drive economic development in the state.
