AMAECHI WITHDRAWS SUIT CHALLENGING ATIKU’S ADC CANDIDACY
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has struck out a pre-election suit filed by former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his emergence as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik struck out the suit after counsel to Amaechi, Jibrin Okutepa, SAN, moved a motion seeking the withdrawal of the case.
Amaechi had instituted the suit challenging the process that produced Atiku Abubakar as the ADC presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.
While moving the application, Okutepa informed the court that parties had resolved their differences and that an application for discontinuance of the matter had already been filed.
He subsequently prayed the court to strike out the suit.
After listening to submissions from counsel, Justice Abdulmalik granted the request and ordered that the case be struck out.
The development brings an end to the legal challenge against Atiku Abubakar’s emergence as the ADC presidential candidate.
