CUSTOMS, AMERICAN BUSINESS COUNCIL STRENGTHEN TRADE PARTNERSHIP
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the American Business Council (ABC) have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening trade relations and addressing business challenges through sustained public-private sector collaboration.
The renewed commitment was made during a quarterly stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, where discussions focused on enhancing trade facilitation, strengthening security, and promoting stronger economic ties between Nigeria and the United States.
Speaking at the meeting, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, announced plans to institutionalise the engagement as a permanent feature of the Customs calendar, highlighting the importance of regular consultations with stakeholders.
He also outlined progress recorded in several key reforms, including the Advance Ruling System, the Authorised Economic Operator Programme, Post Clearance Audit, the B’Odogwu platform, and ongoing improvements in cargo clearance processes aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing trade bottlenecks.
President of the American Business Council, Nneka Enwereji, described the session as productive and commended the Nigeria Customs Service for its commitment to improving the ease of doing business in the country.
She noted that continued collaboration between Customs and the private sector would help address operational challenges, boost investor confidence, and strengthen bilateral trade relations.
