The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS12 Zonal Command, Bauchi, has successfully concluded the August edition of its three-day Zonal Special Intervention Patrol (ZISP), code-named “Operation Ride Safe,” conducted from Wednesday, 12th to Friday, 14th August, 2026, across Bauchi, Borno, and Yobe States.
The intervention was designed to address road traffic offences associated with Overloading/Mixed Loading (OVL) and Worn-Out/Expired Tyres (TYV), which pose significant risks to road users and contribute to Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs).
During the three-day operation, the Zone apprehended a total of 911 offenders for 928 offences, out of which 425 offences were specifically related to the identified focus areas of Overloading/Mixed Loading and Worn-Out/Expired Tyres.
The operation was simultaneously conducted across the three Sector Commands of Bauchi, Borno, and Yobe, with the Sector Commands recording 258 offenders and 271 offences in Bauchi; 327 offenders and 329 offences in Borno; and 326 offenders and 328 offences in Yobe, respectively.
Speaking on the outcome of the operation, the Assistant Corps Marshal and Zonal Commanding Officer, RS12 Zonal Command, Bauchi, ACM Leye Adegboyega, commended personnel across the Zone for their commitment and dedication to the successful conduct of the intervention patrol.
He stated that the results provide important operational data on the prevalence of the targeted offences and would be carefully reviewed to determine areas requiring further intervention.
The Zonal Commanding Officer emphasized that “Operation Ride Safe” is not merely an enforcement exercise but a data-driven intervention designed to identify peculiar road safety challenges, strengthen compliance, and guide subsequent operational decisions.
He added that the August edition also provided an opportunity for intensified enforcement, public enlightenment, stakeholder engagement, and increased operational visibility across major highways, motor parks, loading points, and other identified high-risk locations.
The Corps further appealed to motorists, commercial drivers, transport operators, vehicle owners, and passengers to comply with traffic regulations, avoid overloading and mixed loading, and ensure that vehicles are fitted with safe and serviceable tyres before embarking on journeys.
The FRSC boss advised road users that road safety is a shared responsibility and urged all stakeholders to support the Corps in its sustained efforts to reduce Road Traffic Crashes, fatalities, and injuries across the Zone.
The RS12 Zonal Commander reiterated the Command’s commitment to achieving the Corps’ Corporate Strategic Goal of reducing Road Traffic Crash fatalities and injuries by 10% through data-driven interventions, noting that the Command would continue to strengthen enforcement, public education, stakeholder engagement, and Corps visibility towards creating a safer motoring environment across Bauchi, Borno, and Yobe States.
