NBA ASSURES OF CREDIBLE SUCCESSION PROCESS AS NATIONAL ELECTION HOLDS

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) says it is set for a transparent and credible National Executive election scheduled to hold on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

The association said the election is in line with its tradition of ensuring a democratic process in leadership succession among legal practitioners.

Speaking on preparations for a hitch-free exercise, the outgoing NBA President, Afam Osigwe, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, stressed the need to protect the right of lawyers to exercise their franchise without unnecessary impediments.

He said all efforts must be made to ensure that challenges capable of undermining the electoral process are addressed to allow members to freely choose their leaders.

The NBA reiterated its commitment to promoting due process, transparency and probity in electoral contests across Nigeria.

The association said it will continue to leverage technology as a model for credible elections and strengthen confidence in democratic processes within and beyond the legal profession.
