The Ondo State Police Command has arrested four police officers captured in a viral social media video allegedly making unprofessional and ethnically insensitive remarks during a stop-and-search operation along the Lagos–Benin Expressway.

The Command said the officers have been identified as ASP Elomore Sodayo (AP/No. 207454), Inspector Adefila Adewale (AP/No. 332012), Inspector Olorunfemi Opeyemi (AP/No. 332449), and Inspector Odusola Peter (AP/No. 332369).

Addressing journalists during a press briefing, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, had ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the officers’ conduct and establish their respective levels of culpability.

DSP Jimoh explained that the Command views the allegations seriously, stressing that the Nigeria Police Force does not tolerate misconduct, incivility, or any action capable of promoting ethnic division or eroding public confidence in law enforcement.

According to him, police officers are expected at all times to conduct themselves professionally, respect the dignity of citizens, and strictly adhere to the Force’s Code of Conduct and Standard Operating Procedures.

The Command assured the public that the investigation would be conducted with fairness, transparency, and accountability, adding that any officer found guilty of misconduct would face appropriate disciplinary measures in line with established laws and procedures.

DSP Jimoh further reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to professional, intelligence-driven, and community-oriented policing, urging residents to remain law-abiding and continue to report incidents of police misconduct through approved complaint channels.

He noted that the Ondo State Police Command remains committed to maintaining public trust while ensuring that officers uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
