Operation FANSAN YAMMA Foils Terrorist Attacks, Neutralizes Notorious Commander

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled coordinated terrorist attacks, neutralized a notorious terrorist commander, and recovered arms during separate operations in Zamfara and Katsina States.

In Zamfara State, troops, supported by local security volunteers, repelled an attempted terrorist attack on communities in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.

In a related operation around Dogon Kade, the troops neutralized notorious terrorist commander Alhaji Tukur, younger brother of terrorist kingpin Alhaji Shehu Bagiwaye, while several other terrorists fled with gunshot wounds.

At Sabon Gari in Kaura Namoda, troops also neutralized one terrorist and recovered a motorcycle after terrorists abandoned their mission and fled.

In Katsina State, troops on patrol along the Danmusa–Yantumaki axis recovered two AK-47 rifles, two magazines containing 25 rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle after engaging fleeing terrorists.

Meanwhile, the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA intercepted a large group of terrorists on motorcycles heading towards Gummi in Zamfara State. Precision airstrikes neutralized scores of the terrorists, preventing the planned attack.

The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations to protect lives and restore lasting peace across the North West.
