Windstorm Wreaks Havoc In Gashu’a Town, Kills Four

A devastating windstorm has struck Gashu’a community, headquarters of Bade Local Government Area of Yobe State, destroying numerous houses and properties worth Millions of Naira.
The windstorm, which occurred yesterday evening, rendered many households homeless and destroyed their valuables including businesses and food items.
Some residents said, about 4 people lost their lives though this has not been confirmed by relevant authorities.
“This is one of the worst devastating disasters I have ever seen in my entire life, I think deforestation contributed significantly to this tragic incident” a 65-year old resident said.
The windstorm which accompanied the onset of rainy season, had left a trail of destruction, damaging hundreds of residential houses as well as means of livelihood.
