Police Secure Death Sentence in Apo Double Murder Case
The FCT Police Command has secured the conviction of Jonathan Marcus, a former driver who murdered an elderly couple at their residence in Apo Legislative Quarters, Abuja.
The Command says Marcus was found guilty of killing 80-year-old Adebola Ezekiel and his wife, Abiodun, on April 1, 2024.
Police investigations revealed that he fled to Obajana in Kogi State after the crime but was tracked and arrested. During interrogation, he confessed to the murders, admitting he gained access to the couple’s home late at night. Investigators also established that he had been dismissed as their driver following repeated disagreements.
Delivering judgment, the FCT High Court held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced Marcus to death by hanging.
The FCT Police Command says the judgment underscores its commitment to ensuring justice for victims and warns that perpetrators of violent crimes will be pursued and brought to justice.
