76 Terrorists, Senior ISWAP Leaders Lay Down Arms

The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, has recorded a major breakthrough in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign as several top leaders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and dozens of fighters surrendered to troops following intensified military operations.

According to a statement by the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the latest surrender was triggered by sustained offensives and intelligence-driven operations that have continued to dismantle terrorist enclaves across the North-East.

The military said the surrendered insurgent leaders, described as key members of the terrorist network, abandoned their hideouts and are currently undergoing profiling and debriefing in line with established operational procedures. It added that 76 terrorist foot soldiers and some of their family members also surrendered to troops within the last week.

Operation HADIN KAI noted that the development reflects the growing impact of ongoing operations aimed at disrupting terrorist command structures, weakening logistics networks and denying insurgents freedom of movement. The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on remaining terrorist elements until they are either neutralised or compelled to surrender, with the ultimate goal of restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East.
