NDLEA Takes Custody of 6.8 Tonnes of Canadian Loud Seized at Lagos Port
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has taken custody of 6,778.5 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, intercepted during a joint operation at the Apapa Seaport in Lagos.
The seizure followed a coordinated examination of two containers by NDLEA operatives, the Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies, in what authorities described as a major setback for transnational drug trafficking networks.
According to the agency, the operation was the result of months of intelligence gathering led by the NDLEA Special Investigation Unit and Marine Intelligence Unit, working closely with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Nigeria Customs Service.
At the formal handover ceremony in Lagos, NDLEA officials stressed that the agency’s strategy goes beyond drug seizures, warning that efforts would be intensified to dismantle the financial networks of trafficking syndicates and ensure that criminals do not profit from illicit drug trade.
