Troops Neutralise 662 Terrorists, Rescue 951 Kidnap Victims in Three Months
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining military operations across the country to consolidate gains recorded in the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other security threats.
Speaking at the monthly Defence Media Operations briefing in Abuja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Michael Onoja, said troops achieved significant successes across various theatres of operation between April and June 2026.
According to him, military operations during the period led to the elimination of 662 terrorists, the arrest of 1,084 suspects, and the rescue of 951 kidnapped victims. Troops also destroyed 12 illegal refining sites and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition.
The Defence Headquarters stated that the Armed Forces remain resolute in safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and protecting lives and property. It urged citizens to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence to aid ongoing operations.
