DSS, FOREST GUARDS NEUTRALISE TWO BANDITS IN KWARA
A joint security team comprising operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and Forest Guards has rescued two kidnapped children from a forest located between Oba Isin and Owa Onire in Isin and Ifelodun Local Government Areas of Kwara State.
The rescued victims have been identified as 16-year-old Fatima Azeez and five-year-old Ibrahim Azeez.
During the operation, security operatives engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle, killing two of the armed bandits, while several others escaped with serious gunshot wounds.
The security team also recovered one AK-47 rifle, a single-barrel gun, a fully loaded magazine, nine rounds of empty ammunition, a mini solar panel and food supplies believed to have been used by the criminal gang.
The operation forms part of the government’s coordinated multi-agency counterterrorism and anti-kidnapping campaign aimed at dismantling criminal hideouts, rescuing victims and restoring public confidence.
Meanwhile, security operatives say follow-up operations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and ensure they are brought to justice.
