NIS EXTENDS UK PASSPORT INTERVENTION TO OCTOBER 3
The Nigeria Immigration Service has extended its special passport intervention exercise in London and Manchester to October 3, 2026, following a high turnout by applicants.
In a statement, the Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, indicates that the exercise is progressing smoothly at the two centres despite initial challenges, with 1,477 Nigerians processed and enrolled within the first four days. More than half have already had their passports produced and dispatched.
Eligible applicants are required to book appointments through the website of the High Commission of Nigeria in the United Kingdom and present their completed application form and payment receipt, intervention appointment slip, current passport where applicable, and a self-addressed return envelope.
The Service reiterates that passport applications and payments are fully automated and cashless. The applicable fees are 162 dollars for a five-year passport and 242 dollars for a ten-year passport, with no additional charges for the intervention exercise.
The extension, approved under the directive of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, runs from September 19 to October 3 and is intended to accommodate the increasing demand. Further details on participating locations and appointment procedures will be announced through the official channels of the NIS and Nigerian High Commission in the UK.
The Nigeria Immigration Service appreciates the patience and cooperation of Nigerians in the UK and reaffirms its commitment to efficient and transparent passport services.
