IED FOUND AT NEW BUSSA GENERAL HOSPITAL IN BORGU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF NIGER STATE.
A suspected improvised explosive device (IED) has been discovered at the New Bussa General Hospital in Borgu LGA of Niger State.
An eye witness narrated that the suspected explosive device was discovered by a security man attached to the hospital.
He reportedly alerted conventional security operatives who confirmed it to be an explosive device.
The situation however created panic at the hospital before operatives from the bomb disposal unit of the Nigeria police force arrived the scene and successfully diffused the device before evacuating it from the premises for destruction.
Eye witnesses say soldiers and police personnel were afterwards deployed to the hospital to strengthen security and restrict movement within and around the facility.
Police Public Relations Officer Niger State Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident Via a release and that the situation is now under control while additional security personnel have been drafted to the location.
