FIRST LADY ADVOCATES GREATER SUPPORT FOR PERSONS WITH ALBINISM
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to promote the rights, dignity, health and wellbeing of persons living with albinism.
In her message marking the 2026 International Albinism Awareness Day, themed “Demanding Our Rights: Protect Our Skin, Preserve Our Lives,” the First Lady noted that persons with albinism continue to face discrimination, stigma and health challenges, particularly the risk of skin cancer due to prolonged exposure to sunlight and limited access to essential healthcare services.
She urged Nigerians to strengthen inclusion, protect the rights of persons with albinism, improve access to healthcare and foster a society where everyone is treated with fairness, love, respect and equal opportunity.
