2025 BUDGET: REPS TO DECIDE ON CAPITAL PROJECTS EXTENSION

2025 BUDGET: REPS TO DECIDE ON CAPITAL PROJECTS EXTENSION

The House of Representatives will hold an emergency sitting on Monday to consider President Bola Tinubu’s request for an extension of the implementation period for the capital component of the 2025 Appropriation Act.

The emergency session, confirmed by House Spokesman Akin Rotimi, is aimed at preventing disruptions to ongoing federal capital projects across the country.

The proposed extension follows the Senate’s approval last Thursday of a request to extend the implementation of the capital component of the 2025 budget to September 30, 2026.

Although lawmakers are currently on annual recess, members of the House have been directed to give priority attendance to the sitting to enable the chamber concur with the Senate on the Executive’s request.

The move is expected to ensure the completion of critical infrastructure and development projects captured under the 2025 budget.
