TROOPS RECOVER HEAVY WEAPONS, IEDS IN KEBBI ANTI-TERROR OPERATION
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recovered a cache of high-calibre weapons and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during a sustained offensive against Lakurawa terrorist elements in Kebbi State.
The operation was conducted on June 14, 2026, around the Dogon Daji general area in Dandi Local Government Area, according to a statement by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba.
The statement noted that troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee the area.
A follow-up exploitation of the terrorists’ withdrawal routes led to the recovery of weapons, explosives and logistics materials left behind during the retreat.
Recovered items include Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple improvised explosive devices, two motorcycles, battery chargers and other personal effects.
The Army confirmed that no casualties were recorded on the part of the troops during the operation.
Lieutenant Colonel Osoba said the success of the mission underscores the continued commitment of the Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to dismantling terrorist and bandit networks across the North-West and ensuring the safety of citizens.
