FIRST LADY ADVOCATES SAFE WATER, HYGIENE FOR AFRICAN CHILDREN

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called for stronger collective action to build child-friendly communities, strengthen public health systems, and ensure safe environments where children can thrive and reach their full potential.

In her message marking the 2026 Day of the African Child, with the theme “Ensuring universal access to water, sanitation, and hygiene for every child in Africa,” the First Lady joined stakeholders in advocating for the protection of children’s rights across the continent.

She stressed that access to clean water, proper sanitation, and good hygiene remains fundamental to the health, dignity, education, and future of every child.

Tinubu noted that children, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserve access to basic amenities that support healthy growth, learning, and development.

She further urged governments, communities, and development partners to intensify efforts toward improving living conditions for children and ensuring no child is left behind in access to essential services.
