NSCDC DEPLOYS 10,000 PERSONNEL, TACTICAL UNITS FOR EKITI GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 10,000 personnel, including elite tactical squads and K-9 units, across Ekiti State to ensure a peaceful, credible and violence-free governorship election.
According to a statement by the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, Afolabi Babawale, the personnel were drawn from Ekiti State and neighbouring commands to strengthen security coverage before, during and after the poll.
The statement noted that the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, directed the Deputy Commandant General in charge of Operations, Ayuba Phillips, to lead the election security operation.
Professor Audi reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting voters, electoral officials and critical election infrastructure, warning that acts of electoral violence, thuggery, voter intimidation and other forms of disruption would not be tolerated.
He assured residents and stakeholders that NSCDC personnel would remain professional, neutral and law-abiding throughout the election period, while working closely with other security agencies to guarantee a secure environment for the conduct of the governorship poll.
