President Bola Tinubu has described the late former President Muhammadu Buhari as a rare figure in Nigeria’s history, noting that his transition from military ruler to civilian democrat remains a defining legacy. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at a prayer session in Abuja marking Buhari’s first death anniversary, Tinubu praised his patriotism and unwavering service to the nation.
The President said Buhari’s legacy extended beyond the offices he held, reflecting consistency between his principles, words and personal conduct. He urged political leaders and public officials to emulate the late leader’s honesty, simplicity and self-discipline in the discharge of their duties, describing his devotion to Nigeria as enduring and selfless.
Tinubu said Buhari served Nigeria with courage, conviction and patriotism, giving his all without seeking personal reward. He added that the former President’s life and character continue to inspire Nigerians and remain an enduring example of integrity, sacrifice and commitment to national service.
