Benue Police Launch Manhunt Over Killing of MACBAN Chairman, Condemn Attack in Otukpo

The Benue State Police Command has condemned the killing of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Benue State Chapter, Ardo Rabo Mohammed, and another victim, Yakubu Isa, in Otukpo Local Government Area of the state.

The Command, in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, said the victims were attacked by unknown assailants while returning from a security meeting along Okwudu Ogoli Road in Otukpo.

Describing the incident as “senseless and criminal,” the Command said the attack was capable of undermining ongoing peace and security efforts in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and assured residents of swift justice.

He disclosed that a full-scale investigation has commenced, with tactical and intelligence units already deployed to track down those responsible for the attack.

According to him, the Command will not relent until the perpetrators are identified, arrested, and prosecuted.

He urged residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible intelligence that could aid investigations.

The police assured that efforts were ongoing to sustain peace and security across Benue State and protect lives and property.
