DEFENCE MINISTRY CLARIFIES ALLOWANCE PAYMENTS TO HOUSE OFFICERS, INTERNS
The Ministry of Defence has dismissed reports alleging non-payment of allowances to House Officers and Interns in Armed Forces Reference Hospitals.
The Permanent Secretary ministery of defence Richard Pheelangwah described the claims as false and misleading, noting that payment of outstanding allowances is already underway.
He added that efforts are continuing to settle the remaining arrears as additional funds are released.
According to the Permanent Secretary, the delay stems from the absence of a budgetary provision for the allowances since January 2026, and not from any administrative failure by the Ministry.
