EBOLA UPDATE: WHO CONFIRMS EVACUATION OF NIGERIA’S INDEX CASE TO SWITZERLAND
The World Health Organization has confirmed the medical evacuation of Nigeria’s Ebola index case to Switzerland.
WHO Regional Director for Africa, Dr Mohamed Janabi, says the 42-year-old patient and her Swiss husband departed Abuja on Monday, October 26.
Switzerland will take over the patient’s continued treatment and monitor her husband, who remains asymptomatic.
Meanwhile, Nigerian health authorities are monitoring 52 contacts linked to the confirmed case, as surveillance and containment measures continue to prevent further transmission.
