ECOWAS PARLIAMENT COMMITTEE MEETS TO STRENGTHEN MSMEs

The Parliament of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has commenced a delocalized meeting of its Joint Committee on Industry and Private Sector, Macroeconomic Policy and Economic Research, Administration, Finance and Budget, and Public Accounts in Cotonou, Republic of Benin.

The five-day meeting has the theme: “Empowering MSMEs as Formal Drivers of ECOWAS Regional Value Chains.”

The meeting will focus on regional collaboration on trade, operationalizing WACOMP, the ECOWAS Business Council, and ECOSHAM to formalize MSMEs and integrate them into regional value chains.

The meeting comes at a time when regions across the world are seeking to strengthen MSMEs to address emerging economic challenges.

It is expected to adopt strategies that will benefit both the host nation and the sub-region.
