STAKEHOLDERS ADVOCATE INCLUSIVE EDUCATION FOR ALL

Inclusive education remains a key priority in Nigeria’s efforts to ensure that every child, including learners with disabilities and special educational needs, has access to quality basic education in a safe and supportive learning environment.

To advance this goal, the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), in collaboration with partners, convened a capacity building workshop for state actors on the effective implementation of inclusive and special education.
The workshop focused on key deliverables that will serve as benchmarks for governance, infrastructure, accessibility, curriculum adaptation, teacher capacity, and community participation. These benchmarks are expected to guide State Universal Basic Education Boards in planning and implementing inclusive education programmes using uniform quality standards across the country.

Participants were urged to translate the outcomes of the workshop into practical actions that will eliminate barriers to learning and promote safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments in schools nationwide.
