FG SEEKS GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS ON WATER MANAGEMENT
The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, has departed Abuja to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the Singapore International Water Week, a global forum focused on innovative solutions to water, coastal and flood management challenges.
According to a statement by the Minister’s Media Officer, Terhemen Oranduen, the international event is expected to bring together more than 2,500 policymakers, experts and stakeholders in the water sector.
The conference will serve as a platform for participants to exchange ideas and develop practical solutions aimed at addressing water shortages in urban areas, coastal flooding, and industrial water management technologies.
It will also explore collaborative approaches among nations to mitigate the growing impact of climate change on global water resources amid increasing environmental and economic pressures.
Prof. Utsev is expected to highlight ongoing reforms by the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu aimed at improving access to clean water, irrigation systems, agricultural development, hydropower generation, and environmental sustainability.
He noted that these reforms are designed to bridge water supply gaps and deliver tangible benefits to citizens across the country through strategic investment in the water sector.
Nigeria’s participation is expected to strengthen international cooperation and enhance knowledge sharing on sustainable water management practices.
