Former Science Minister Nabbed at Airport, Handed to ICPC
Operatives of the Department of State Services have arrested former Minister of Science and Technology, Geoffrey Uchechukwu Nnaji, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu.
According to a statement by the DSS, Nnaji was apprehended on Wednesday while preparing to board a private jet to Abuja. The arrest was reportedly carried out at the request of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, which is investigating allegations relating to the management of the ministry during his tenure.
The anti-graft agency had reportedly invited the former minister on several occasions in connection with the allegations. Following his alleged failure to honour the invitations, the commission sought the assistance of the DSS to effect his arrest.
Nnaji was subsequently handed over to the ICPC for interrogation and further investigation as authorities intensify efforts to promote accountability and combat corruption in public service.
