INEC Begins PVC Distribution In Oyo October 9
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Oyo State, begins the distribution of newly printed Permanent Voter Cards on October 9, ahead of the forthcoming General Elections.
The exercise will take place across the Commission’s 33 Local Government Area offices from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, excluding weekends and public holidays.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Adeniran Rahman Tella, says the distribution is for newly registered voters, those who transferred their polling units, and voters whose cards were lost or damaged during the last Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
He says collection will be strictly personal, with no provision for proxy collection, while security agencies have been engaged to ensure a transparent, orderly and peaceful exercise.
Professor Tella urges eligible voters and other stakeholders to collect their PVCs promptly, noting that many cards from the 2023 General Elections remain uncollected in the state.
He says timely collection of PVCs is essential to ensuring eligible voters are prepared to participate in the forthcoming elections.
