Kano Police Thwart Suspected Bandits’ Plot, Recover Ammunition, Fake Military Uniforms and Identity Card

The Kano State Police Command has recorded another major operational success, arresting a suspected bandit and recovering AK-47 ammunition, military uniforms, and other incriminating items during an intelligence-led operation in Bichi Local Government Area.

The operation followed credible intelligence from a vigilant resident who reported three men dressed in military uniforms riding a motorcycle through Rimaye Village on Sunday evening. Police operatives swiftly intercepted the suspects, who attempted to flee on sighting the officers. After a brief pursuit, one suspect, Muhammad Isa, 28, of Dan Dinshe, Yamma Quarters in Dala Local Government Area, was arrested, while his two accomplices escaped into nearby bushes.

A search of the suspect led to the recovery of one AK-47 magazine loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition, an additional 79 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two military uniforms, three military-style caps, a suspected fake military identity card, a pair of desert combat boots, and several personal items. During interrogation, the suspect identified his fleeing accomplices as Atiku and Alhasan, prompting security operatives to launch a manhunt to apprehend them and dismantle the criminal network.

The Commissioner of Police commended the resident whose timely information led to the successful operation, describing it as another testament to the importance of public cooperation in fighting crime. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue reporting suspicious activities, while reaffirming the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and ensuring that criminal elements have no safe haven in Kano State.
