KING’S COLLEGE; TUC SUSPENDS INDUSTRIAL ACTION

KING’S COLLEGE; TUC SUSPENDS INDUSTRIAL ACTION

The Trade Union Congress, TUC, has suspends the industrial action earlier directed against its affiliates over concerns surrounding King’s College, Lagos. The decision follows a high level engagement with the Federal Ministry of Education and other stakeholders,

with the union saying the suspension will allow a newly constituted seven member committee to review outstanding concerns within one to two weeks.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, meanwhile, assures workers that no staff member of King’s College will be dismissed, while the deployment of academic and non academic staff will be handled in line with the Public Service Rules. He also announces that the arrangement for the King’s College Old Boys Association to continue managing the institution will proceed, subject to recommendations from the committee.

TUC describes the outcome as a fruitful and win-win engagement, while calling for urgent intervention to address the dilapidated condition of King’s College. The Federal Government reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the institution, protecting students and staff, and improving the learning environment.
