ACOSA Celebrates 49th Anniversary, Begins Preparations for Golden Jubilee
The Abadina College Old Students Association (ACOSA) has commenced preparations for the institution’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2027, with Mr Idowu of the 1982 set named Chairman of the Golden Jubilee Planning Committee.

The announcement came during the association’s 10th Annual Lecture and Award Ceremony, held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, as part of activities marking the 49th anniversary of Abadina College, University of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The event, themed “Towards the Jubilee: The History, Lessons and Way Forward,” brought together pupils, old students, teachers, parents and well-wishers to celebrate the institution’s achievements, reflect on its history and discuss strategies for its future development.

In his welcome address, the National President of ACOSA, Arch. Andrew Oshiomogho, described the school’s 49-year journey as a testament to resilience, values and the positive impact of education on generations of students.
He called for greater unity among members of the association and urged them to contribute to the development of their alma mater, particularly through the proposed rehabilitation and upgrading of the school hall.

“No set, no chapter, no class is bigger than our common identity. If we must move this school forward, we must be united in thoughts and actions,” Oshiomogho said.
He identified the school hall project as a legacy initiative for the anniversary year and called on old students across different sets and chapters to support the effort.
The president also stressed the need for early and coordinated planning for the Golden Jubilee, urging members and friends of the institution to work with the national body to ensure a successful celebration in 2027.
Mr Idowu’s appointment as Chairman of the 50th Anniversary Planning Committee is expected to facilitate preparations for the landmark event.
As part of the anniversary activities, old students reflected on the history of Abadina College, sharing experiences and lessons from the institution’s past while discussing a way forward for its continued growth and development.
The annual lecture provided a platform for members of different sets to examine the school’s journey, identify challenges and explore opportunities for strengthening its legacy.
Students were also recognised and presented with awards in acknowledgement of their outstanding academic performance and achievements.
The occasion featured spoken-word performances, cultural displays and poetry recitations by pupils and other participants, adding colour and entertainment to the celebration.
A special highlight was the cutting of the anniversary cake, symbolising the school’s 49 years of existence and the anticipation of its Golden Jubilee next year.
The gathering underscored the importance of collaboration among old students, school administrators, teachers, parents and other stakeholders in preserving the institution’s heritage and improving its future.
In his concluding remarks, Oshiomogho challenged members to renew their commitment to the school, declaring: “Abadina College made us. Now is the time to make Abadina College proud.”
The association expressed optimism that the preparations for the 50th anniversary would strengthen its unity, promote the development of the school and produce a memorable Golden Jubilee celebration in 2027.
