NIGERIA STRENGTHENS MULTILATERAL ENGAGEMENT AHEAD OF UNGA 81

Nigeria has signed a recommitment to the United Nations Charter and the UN80 Reform Agenda ahead of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The agreement was signed by Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to global peace, multilateral cooperation, and the principles of the United Nations.

Ambassador Ibrahim, who also serves as Chair of the United Nations Budget, Appropriations and Administration Committee, said the move reflects Nigeria’s confidence in the continued relevance of the United Nations and its reform processes.

In a related engagement, Nigeria’s envoy received the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, at the Nigeria Mission House in New York. She was briefed on Nigeria’s strategic priorities within the UN system.

The meeting further reinforced Nigeria’s commitment to working closely with United Nations leadership in implementing a 90-day strategic agenda aimed at strengthening the country’s voice and influence in global affairs.
