NIMET UNVEILS SERVICE INNOVATION COMMITTEE

NIMET UNVEILS SERVICE INNOVATION COMMITTEE

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has inaugurated a Service Innovation Committee aiming to institutionalise innovation, strengthen research and development, accelerate digital transformation, and improve service delivery.

The move aligns with the Federal Government’s ongoing public service reforms and a directive from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to promote innovation across government institutions.

Inaugurating the committee, NiMet’s Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Charles Anosike, described innovation as a cornerstone of the agency’s current administration.

He highlighted key reforms implemented under his leadership, including the modernisation of operations, improved weather and climate services, stronger stakeholder engagement, enhanced staff capacity building, expanded partnerships, and greater use of digital technologies to boost efficiency and support data-driven decision-making.

The inauguration reflects NiMet’s broader push to foster a culture of excellence, professionalism, and innovation, better positioning the agency to meet emerging technological, environmental, and stakeholder needs in a rapidly evolving world.
