No Shipment, No Returns’ — Witness Reveals How N28m Vanished in Alleged Scam

A prosecution witness in the ongoing N740 million alleged investment fraud case involving the Chief Executive Officer of Onome Global Market Resources Limited, Osabohein Alex Ologbose, and his wife, Hope Onome Oghelemu, has narrated before the Federal High Court in Abuja how he lost over N28 million to the scheme.

The witness, Modestus Uchenna Okafor, an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), told the court that he was introduced to the company by one Alice Ayeni, who allegedly presented herself as a director of the firm and convinced him to invest in the export of bitter kola and other agricultural products to Asian countries.

Okafor said he initially invested N620,000 before making additional payments amounting to N28.08 million into accounts provided by Ayeni. He explained that the funds were meant for the export of bitter kola and kola nuts to Hong Kong, China and Indonesia, with promises of attractive returns on investment.

The witness further told the court that investigations later revealed that no such export transactions took place, prompting him and other investors to petition the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Justice Ekerete Akpan subsequently adjourned the case until September 24, 2026, for continuation of trial.
