The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Oyo State, has expressed grief over the death of a corps member, Oluwatosin Abidakun, in a road crash involving an articulated truck in Ibadan.

The condolence was contained in a statement issued by the State Coordinator of the scheme, Mr Kayode Peters, on Tuesday in Ibadan and released to newsmen by the NYSC Public Relations Officer, Mrs Abimbola Faniyi.

According to the statement, the tragic accident occurred on Monday around Agodi Gardens in Ibadan North Local Government Area, when an articulated truck reportedly rammed into several vehicles, leaving multiple persons injured.

It disclosed that Abidakun and her colleague, both of whom had recently resumed their primary assignments at the Oyo State House of Assembly, were returning home on the same motorcycle when the accident occurred.

The scheme noted that while Abidakun lost her life in the crash, her colleague sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention.

The statement described the deceased as an indigene of Ogun State who was committed to the discharge of her duties at the Oyo State House of Assembly.

It added that her untimely death is a painful loss to the Scheme, her family, colleagues, the Assembly and all those whose lives she touched.

The NYSC Oyo State Secretariat extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that Almighty God grants them the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The Scheme also commiserated with her friends, colleagues and associates over the tragic loss, describing the incident as devastating.

Meanwhile, the management of the scheme wished the injured corps member a speedy and complete recovery, praying that Almighty God restores his health and strength.
