Oyo NSCDC Commissions, Distributes 15 Motorcycles to Personnel to Improve Welfare, Productivity

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has commissioned and distributed 15 motorcycles to selected beneficiary officers to enhance operational mobility and support effective service delivery across the state.

The commissioning and distribution ceremony was held on Monday, 24 August 2026, at the NSCDC Oyo State Command Headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan, and was performed by the State Commandant, Commandant Augustine Padonu.

The initiative was facilitated through the NSCDC Ibadan Staff Cooperative Society as part of its commitment to improving the welfare of personnel and providing practical support that can enhance their capacity to discharge their responsibilities effectively.

The intervention is also a demonstration of the cooperative society’s role in promoting the economic and social well-being of members of the Corps.

Speaking during the ceremony, the State Commandant, Commandant Augustine Padonu, first expressed his profound appreciation to the Grand Patron of the NSCDC Ibadan Staff Cooperative Society, the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, for his support, leadership, and commitment to initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of personnel of the Corps.

Commandant Padonu also appreciated the leadership and members of the cooperative society for their dedication to the welfare of personnel, describing the motorcycle scheme as a laudable intervention capable of positively impacting the lives, productivity, and operational effectiveness of beneficiaries.

He noted that personnel welfare remains an important component of effective administration and operational efficiency, stressing that officers who are adequately supported and motivated are better positioned to deliver effectively on the mandate of the Corps.

He stated that the provision of the motorcycles would not only provide economic relief to the beneficiaries but would also improve their mobility and accessibility, particularly in the discharge of official responsibilities and other legitimate engagements.

The State Commandant urged the beneficiaries to see the motorcycles as both a welfare benefit and a responsibility, advising them to maintain the motorcycles properly, use them responsibly, and ensure that the gesture translates into improved productivity, discipline, commitment, and service delivery.

Commandant Padonu further encouraged personnel to support and participate actively in cooperative activities, noting that a strong and vibrant cooperative society remains an important platform for promoting the collective welfare and economic advancement of members of the Corps.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the NSCDC Ibadan Staff Cooperative Society, CSC Victor Adegunlola, expressed the society’s profound appreciation to the Grand Patron, the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, for his support and patronage of the cooperative society.

He also appreciated the State Patron of the Cooperative Society and State Commandant of the Oyo State Command, Commandant Augustine Padonu, for his encouragement, support, and commitment to initiatives designed to improve the welfare of personnel.

CSC Adegunlola explained that the motorcycle distribution was conceived as part of the society’s efforts to respond to the welfare and mobility needs of its members.

He stated that the initiative was driven by the understanding that transportation and mobility constitute significant challenges for many personnel, particularly officers whose duties require regular movement within their areas of responsibility.

The Chairman noted that the cooperative society would continue to explore sustainable welfare initiatives that would provide practical benefits to its members, strengthen their economic capacity, and contribute to improved productivity.

He urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring the proper maintenance of the motorcycles and fulfilling all agreed obligations under the cooperative arrangement, noting that the sustainability of such initiatives depends largely on the commitment and responsible participation of members.

The event featured the formal commissioning of the 15 motorcycles, the presentation of the motorcycles to the beneficiaries, and goodwill messages from senior officers and members of the Command.

The initiative underscores the commitment of the NSCDC Ibadan Staff Cooperative Society, with the support of the leadership of the Corps and the Oyo State Command, to promoting personnel welfare, motivation, economic empowerment, operational mobility, and improved service delivery.

The Command will continue to support initiatives that enhance the welfare, productivity, and professional capacity of personnel while strengthening the Corps’ ability to effectively fulfil its statutory mandate of protecting lives and property, maintaining peace and order, and supporting national security across Oyo State.
