PBAT RECEIVES HOLY SEE SECRETARY

President Bola Tinubu says the government is now more than ever vigilant, prioritizing surveillance in the hitherto ungoverned places in the country in order to subdue the activities of the enemies of state.

The President declared this when he received the Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations, Arch Bishop Paul Gallagher, in the state house this Saturday.

Led to the state house by the Nigerian minister of foreign affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Holy See’s secretary is the country for the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations between Nigeria and the Holy See.

Addressing the guest, President Tinubu who emphasized the need to carefully remove religion and ethnicity from the politics of insecurity, stated that the government is being more vigilant and proactive in tackling the issue of insecurity.

He assured that the Nigerian government will continue to work on religious harmony among all faiths, urging religious leaders especially Bishops to continue to preach peace and tolerance.

He appreciated the involvement of the Catholic mission in education and humanitarian courses and especially the promotion of peace and stability around the world.

The secretary of the Holy See delivered Pope Leo’s appreciation to President Tinubu for personally attending his inauguration and the Vatican City.

He appreciated the efforts of the government in the promotion of peace, saying the world looks forward to a more secure environment conducive for the return of Internally Displaced Persons.

The Holy See’s secretary underscores the relationship between Nigeria and the Catholic community.

Nigeria has more than 30 million Catholics and the largest number of Catholic bishops on the African continent.
