President Tinubu Condoles Odunmbaku Family Over Matriarch’s Passing

President Bola Tinubu has commiserated with his longtime ally and member of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Cardinal James Odunmbaku, popularly known as Baba Eto, over the death of his wife, Mother Celestial Olasinmi Akindele Odunmbaku.

Mrs. Odunmbaku, a former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Ondo State, passed away on June 25, 2026, at the age of 59.

In a condolence message issued by the Presidency, President Tinubu described the deceased as a devoted worshipper of God and a pillar of the Celestial Church of Christ, City of God Cathedral. He noted that her contributions to the church, politics, and society would remain enduring memories for all who knew her.

The President said the late Mrs. Odunmbaku was not only a respected political figure in her own right but also a steadfast supporter of her husband. “She stood behind her husband like a Rock of Gibraltar. She was his support system and was warm and welcoming to everyone she encountered,” Tinubu stated.

While acknowledging the deep bond shared by the couple, the President urged Baba Eto, family members, and associates to take solace in the impactful life she lived. He stressed that her legacy of service to God and humanity would continue to inspire many, even as he prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul.
