2027 GENERAL ELECTION: INEC SET TO HOST WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE AS 100-DAY COUNTDOWN BEGINS

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has finalized plans to host a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders Meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, marking exactly 100 days to the 2027 General Election.

The high-level gathering, scheduled for 10:00 AM at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Center in Abuja, will feature a major address by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN.

According to official event details, the briefing serves as a key milestone towards the upcoming polls set for January 16, 2027. The conference will provide a platform for the electoral body to outline its operational readiness, security protocols, and logistics deployment strategies to political parties, civil society organizations, and international observers.

Organizers emphasized that participation at the venue will be strictly controlled, with attendance granted by invitation only.

The upcoming address by Prof. Amupitan, who assumed leadership of the commission in late 2025, is expected to address critical aspects of electoral preparation, voter education, and technological deployment.

The World Press Conference highlights INEC’s ongoing commitment to open communication and stakeholder engagement as the country enters the final stretch before the 2027 general elections.
