NIGERIA TO HOST HIGH-LEVEL WORKSHOP ON GAS MARKET MATURITY
The Ministry of Petroleum Resources (Gas) and the Decade of Gas Secretariat, in collaboration with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, are convening stakeholders from across Nigeria’s gas value chain for a high-level Gas Market Maturity Workshop.
The workshop, in line with the Federal Government’s policy of deepening gas as the transition fuel, will focus on the next phase of the country’s gas market development.
Sessions will examine what is needed to deepen competition, strengthen commercial contracting, and support a more market-driven gas sector — in line with the Petroleum Industry Act.
A central focus of the workshop will be developing a gas pricing framework that keeps gas affordable and competitive for Nigerian consumers, while providing enough incentive for upstream investment and new supply.
The workshop is also expected to identify the key indicators for determining when different segments of the market are ready for greater willing-buyer, willing-seller contracting.
