FRSC TO SUBJECT TRAFFIC VIOLATORS TO MEDICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced plans to begin medical and psychological evaluation of traffic offenders before they are prosecuted for traffic-related violations.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Tijjani Iliyasu, disclosed this during a press briefing held alongside the Mandate Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Transportation Secretariat.
Iliyasu said the initiative is aimed at improving road safety and understanding behavioural factors that contribute to traffic offences and reckless driving.
According to him, the evaluation process will help determine whether medical or psychological conditions played a role in the conduct of offenders, while also supporting efforts to reduce road crashes and promote responsible road use.
The FRSC Sector Commander emphasized that the measure forms part of broader strategies to enhance compliance with traffic regulations and ensure safer roads for all users.
He added that the Corps remains committed to enforcing traffic laws while adopting innovative approaches to address the root causes of dangerous driving behaviours.
The briefing also highlighted ongoing collaboration between the FRSC and the FCT Administration to strengthen traffic management and improve transportation safety within the Federal Capital Territory.
