FRSC Mourns Road Crash Victims, Renews Call for Safer Driving
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has renewed its appeal to motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations following three fatal road crashes recorded in Kogi, Ogun and Kwara states between July 5 and 6, 2026.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed expressed condolences to the families of the victims, describing the incidents as tragic and avoidable.
In a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, the FRSC boss identified speeding, wrongful overtaking, dangerous driving, poor tyre maintenance, driver fatigue and mixed loading as major causes of road crashes across the country.
Mohammed noted that persistent violations of established traffic rules continue to undermine national efforts aimed at improving road safety and reducing fatalities on Nigerian roads. He warned that the Corps would sustain aggressive enforcement against motorists and operators found violating traffic regulations.
The Corps Marshal assured Nigerians of the FRSC’s commitment to safer roads through sustained enforcement, strategic public enlightenment campaigns and prompt emergency response services. He also urged all road users to recognise that road safety is a collective responsibility requiring the cooperation of motorists, passengers and pedestrians alike.
