POLICE NABS SUSPECTED CULTISTS

The Bayelsa State Police Command says it has arrested two suspected cultists and recovered two locally made pistols, following a cult-related killing in Amassoma, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Musa Mohammed indicates -Ebube Jonathan, a 200-Level student of Management Science at the Niger Delta University, Amassoma, and a suspected member of the Black Axe Confraternity, was attacked along Kabaka Street.

He was macheted and shot by yet-to-be-identified assailants, and was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

In a swift follow-up operation, operatives from the Amassoma Division arrested two suspects at Ending Pele, Amassoma.

They are Godswin Adobu, 24, a 300-Level student of Fine and Applied Arts, and Tarilaefa Fesingha, 21.

Police say the suspects had allegedly mobilized to avenge the death of their gang member.

Consequently,The Commissioner of Police has reiterated the Command’s commitment to fighting cultism and violent crime across the state.

He is Therefore warning criminal elements to desist, or face the full weight of the law, and is urging members of the public to provide timely information to help rid Bayelsa of criminality.
