KolaDaisi University Graduates 224, 24 Bag First Class at 6th Convocation

KolaDaisi University, Ibadan, will confer first-class honours on 24 graduands at its 6th convocation ceremony.

The institution’s Vice-Chancellor (VC), Prof. Olajumoke Morenikeji, disclosed this on Monday at a news conference heralding the university’s 10th anniversary and 6th convocation.

Morenikeji said the 24 first-class graduands are among 224 students who will receive degrees across 16 disciplines.

According to her, the 224 figure is the highest number of graduands in the institution’s history, up from 52 at its maiden convocation in 2021.

Breaking it down, the VC said 91 students bagged Second Class Upper Division, 80 bagged Second Class Lower, while 29 bagged Third Class.

She described the first-class feat as a reflection of the institution’s teaching quality, staff commitment and improved learning environment within the last 10 years.

She noted that KDU was established 10 years ago to provide quality education and produce graduates of sound character and competence.

The VC said the university has consistently held convocations in the same year students complete their programmes.

She said the institution now runs programmes across humanities, management, social sciences, computing, law and health sciences.

On accreditation, Morenikeji said KDU currently has full accreditation for 22 programmes, with the Council of Legal Education accrediting its Law programme in 2024.

She added that its Nursing Science programme was accredited on Aug. 31, 2026, while the Medical Laboratory Science programme is scheduled for later in 2026.

She announced former President Olusegun Obasanjo as convocation lecturer and former Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, as commencement speaker.

She also highlighted investments in career readiness, entrepreneurship training and industry partnerships to boost graduate employability.

The VC urged the Federal Government to extend the NELFUND student loan scheme to students in private universities.

The news conference was followed by an exhibition of research breakthroughs, innovations and project designs by students and staff members.
