FRSC VOWS TO INTENSIFY CRACKDOWN ON OVERLOADING

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reiterated its commitment to strengthening enforcement, public education, stakeholder engagement, intelligence-led operations, and the use of technology and data to improve compliance with regulations against overloading across the country.

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the Abuja Declaration 2026 conference themed “Ending Overloading, Saving Lives: A National Commitment to Safer Roads and Responsible Transportation in Nigeria.”

The communiqué emphasized the need for sustained collaboration among government agencies, transport operators, private sector stakeholders, and road users to address the persistent challenge of overloading, which has been identified as a major contributor to road crashes, infrastructure damage, and loss of lives.

Participants at the conference called for stricter compliance with load limits and urged transport operators to embrace responsible transportation practices in the interest of public safety and national development.

The declaration also highlighted the importance of deploying technology-driven solutions and data-based enforcement strategies to detect and deter violations, while enhancing monitoring and regulatory efficiency.

The FRSC assured Nigerians that it would continue to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure safer roads and a more responsible transportation system nationwide.
