NOUN APPOINTS ACTING BURSAR AFTER DEATH OF FINANCE CHIEF

The National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, has appointed Ramatu Ibrahim as Acting Bursar following the death of the institution’s substantive bursar, Nasir Marafa.

The appointment comes as the university observes a three-day mourning period in honour of the late bursar, who was reportedly shot dead in Zamfara State.

In a statement, the Registrar of the university, Oladipo Ajayi, said the appointment takes immediate effect and is aimed at ensuring continuity, stability and effective leadership in the institution’s financial administration.

Before her appointment, Ramatu Ibrahim served as Deputy Bursar in charge of Treasury and had worked across several key units within the Bursary Department, gaining extensive experience in accounting, financial management and treasury operations.

The university described her as a seasoned administrator with deep knowledge of its financial systems and expressed confidence in her ability to uphold professionalism, transparency and accountability in the discharge of her duties.

The appointment was approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Uduma Oji Uduma, with the concurrence of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Isa Yuguda.

NOUN also paid tribute to the late Nasir Marafa, describing him as a dedicated officer whose contributions to the institution’s growth and financial administration will be remembered.
